Pusoy is played with a standard 52-card deck between two to four players. Each player receives 13 cards and must arrange them into three separate hands:
- 1 Front Hand (Puno) – Only 3 cards. This is your weakest hand and it must be the lowest-ranking of the three.
- 2 Middle Hand (Kalagitnaan) – 5 cards. Must rank higher than your front hand.
- 3 Back Hand (Likod) – 5 cards. Your strongest hand. Must rank the highest of all three.
Once all players set their hands, everyone reveals and compares. Points are awarded for each hand you win head-to-head. For the 3-card front hand, only High Card, One Pair, and Three of a Kind apply — no straights or flushes count there.
